Well after running my bike on Shell V-Power since the day I got it, I am now considering trying BP Ultimate. I have always thought should I? Then I decide nahhh... and go fill up with V-Power. But after wasting an hour or so online reading about fuels I am very tempted to go get £15 worth of BP's top juice. Shell doesn't really tell you bugger all about their V-Power apart from its good and cleans your engine etc. But BP have loads of pages of info on their "Ultimate" juice with videos and pictures etc. And then I have found the following page on BP's website! It is all about motorbikes and BP Ultimate fuel. There are 2 videos showing a BMW R1200 GS and a KTM RC8. They’ve been specially adapted with split tanks and separate fuelling systems, so that one half of the engine can run on ordinary petrol and the other on BP Ultimate. It pretty cool of you like this sort of thing. Or maybe if you just care about your engine internals? Check it out... www.bp.com/retail/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9036640&contentId=7067726

They did a test on 5th gear about the super fuels eg shell and BP ultimate they tested them both Shell first while it was in the computer then the same with bp ultimate and both where the same and better then normal fuel eg supermarket fuel so shell and BP ultimate are best. then they tested the Fuel additives what says it makes your vehicle faster and it turned out it made it worse and a waste of money putting the performance mix in with fuel made it slower. sos if it bored some of you lol

And yes them bottles of additives are just snake oil bullshit. The only additive I use is Redex or similar every few thousand miles to give the injector a proper clean. As an injector only has a 1 micron tolerance and that's piss all!

That's the first thing it says. It wasn't BP who actually tested it. It was just BP ultimate fuel that was used.

Anyway I am almost on my reserve fuel so when it starts flashing at me on the dash I am off for £15 of BP Ultimate. I will compare it to the V-Power and see if I personally notice any difference. Most of the first few miles will be placebo effect though...

And depends what you mean by better fuel the most optimum fuel is the higher octane stuff which doesn't contain all this shite to keep your engine "clean" avgas mixed with petrol will get you the best power output as for distance you just need your bike to be running efficiently and if you can control engine temps you would have a mega mpg, but another note we are allllll on 125 cc motorbikes that cost fuck all to run anyway

Like you get tesco unleaded and then they have momentum. I have tried both and always the more expensive petrol wins all the time. I was getting more mile per tank.

Like you get tesco unleaded and then they have momentum. I have tried both and always the more expensive petrol wins all the time. I was getting more mile per tank. This is true. Although I would never get Tesco anything fuel wise. But yes I always get PREMIUM (higher octane) unleaded fuel. Its always been V-Power, but now going to try BP Ultimate for first time. Anyway... People will always argue that all fuel comes from the same place?!
Well this is true and also false and I will explain why...Fuel is produced & then transported in its "basic form". Which means it is all the same fuel until it gets to where its going. After that, whoever has bought that fuel does whatever they want to it (within the guidelines of the law). The fuel has to be fit for purpose and blah regulations blah quality control blah set by government. So once the "basic fuel" has got to where its going, that company then adds their secret blend of herbs and spices to it. Some add more water than others, some add this, some add that, some might take a piss in the fuel who knows? But Shell and BP and no doubt some other "Top Brand" fuels add all the right stuff and have the best "Petrol Recipe". Where as it is argued that Tesco and Sainsbury's and other "back lane" garages do not have as good a recipe for their fuel. It might not burn as well or clean as well as others. It might work better! - Although I very much doubt it. And thats why I don't fill up at supermarkets not matter how many Clubcard or Nectar points they wanna offer me. Can I spend Nectar points cleaning all the carbon deposits off my valves and lifters or my piston and barrel etc? Nope. Anyway hope that clears up any issues people have about fuel. I have spent hours researching this in the past and have even spoken to people directly at Shell themselves, and this is pretty much the basic way things work regarding fuel.

Tesco fuel is shit, if I ever go to tesco I usually get the momentum. Otherwise I go to a proper garage and get the expensive fuel.
