After my fall on the ice a week ago, decided to ride to work today. Just on my way home I noticed that the steering had become very very loose and going around corners was worse than ever, not to mentioned hitting bumps on the road and fighting the handlebars from shooting off to one side! Anyone else had loose steering problems? Think I'll get it checked out before I go back on it!! Been looking online and it looks like I can get the steering bearings tightened up, hopefully that would fix the problem! My poor Yammy

may sound silly but check the clip on aka handle bars that will of taken the brunt of the impact just make sure that is tight and nipped up

Yeah that's a good suggestion from cbrsims.
Check all the bolts holding your handlebars on (clip-ons).

Rs bars seem to be made of cheese aha The bolts are for sure! Softest steel cheese ever. In fact stock bolts in general are shit on any bike. I'm currently changing all mine to highest grade stainless steel. I got all the fairing screw bolts on their way. Now shopping for the sprocket nuts, brake disc screw bolts and other screw bolts for rear hugger, chain guard and other random places...

See my bolts were decent on the newer shape but the bar bent around like they were aluminum or something

Just took it into my local Yamaha Dealer to have a look at the steering. They said that the forks had twisted. They loosened them up, twisted them back and tightened them up again. It does feel a bit better, but I still don't feel safe on it at all... urgh!

It can't be them as they use super glue to seal forks.

Ben you can use the fairing bolts for the rear hugger and chain guard etc too. I asked Al and Motopike that.

Thanks mate. ;D I have 20 odd new A4 Grade Stainless Steel bolts in the post on their way to me. So once I've replaced all the fairing, I will use what's left over for the other bits.
