Since I got my bike seviced last week, I've been having problems with my bike.
I took it out for a little run on the day I got it back from the garage and within about 15 minutes of riding, I noticed the temperature warning light come on but it went off again after just a few seconds, so I didn't think too much of it. I haven't had a decent run on the bike since, as I've been working, until today that is. Went out this evening and noticed the temp warning light flash on again but, went off again after a few seconds. However, further on as I was going up the mountain it came on again and stayed on, which was a bitch because I was about 2 miles or more from the nearest lay by to pull over. I had to slow right down to about 20mph with my left indicator flashing and keeping the revs low.
Gavr the bike about 15mins after I had stopped to cool down, tried it again and the light stayed off until I got home.
Also, when stationary, I can hear the fan wizzing like crazy, far louder than I've ever heard it.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

dave70... * Check your coolant level (white plastic bottle). Just look across top of front wheel under front of bike.I have NEVER had the fan come on my bike. But the other day for the first time ever it did. It must have been due to the fact it was a red hot sunny day. No temp light or anything but when I stopped on my driveway the fan was whirring like mad. And since that day Ive not had the fan come on again. So must have been the hot weather.

Yeah...I thought about the coolant but, I filled it up, albeit about 6 months ago and the bike has literally just had a service. In fact, it only started happening the day I got it back. I intend to check it out though. Not had a chance yet as I've been ill and not on the bike since. Going for a hoon at dawn tomorrow though.

And a very enjoyable hoon it was too...lol Well, except for nearly hitting a sheep, two chickens, a flock of geese, a traffic cone and numerous rabbits. Why is wildlife so bloody stupid? Miles and miles of pleasant green land all around and they choose to sit on a narrow piece of tarmac, then just carry on sitting there looking at you as you approach them at speed Idiots the lot of them.

take the bulb out Great tip It came on again today and I can hear the fan going crazy. Not checked the coolant yet, as all my tools and bike stuff are at work and I can hardly turn up at work and start working on my bike as I'm currently off on the sick. :I Also, could the air filter cause it to overheat if it needs replacing? as mine is overdue.

Yeah, if its dirty as fook and restricting air flow. Get a K&N dave70! How many paper filters you bought and how much are they? £15? You can get the K&N which lasts forever for about £25.

I asked my dealer/garage to fit one a while back during a service. They said they wouldn't as they're only allowed to use Yamaha parts as it's under warranty :\

K&N are approved parts and will not void any warranty on any bike ive asked a few dealers about them and i know honda dont class it as voiding the warranty for replacing it with a higher quality part
