Right, I've got the Danmoto Carbon GP exhaust on my Yamaha R125, and it backfires like mad. Sometimes like 2/3 times a week, I get one sudden bang, sounds exactly like a shot-gun going off! Literally everytime I release the throttle it backfires. Does the backfire damage my engine or anything? Some websites say it does, some say it doesn't?

All It is pal is your engine pumping through a little to much petrol which is igniting in the exhaust (i think that's where it ignites) it doesn't do damage I believe I mean if you listen to really high end hyper cars they backfire like fuck its quite normal after a new exhaust is put on where its not mapped properly don't worry yourself to much much love <3

over fueling mate, worst it will do is make your mpg alittle worse, but try a aftermarket air filter bmc or k&n that will make it pop less

sounds like you are running lean and it needs rejetting, it will eventually kill your plug and leads over very long jorneys, if it is backfireing like mad as you say i would defo get it re jetted or try changing the air/mix screw and see if that helps first.

You know these bikes are fuel injected right? doesnt have that on the injecters its not a carb basically you need a remap to fix it completely or a powercomander which is a piggy back ecu, and its not running lean popping and banging is to much fuel which is running rich over fueling like a boss,

So it needs re-mapping? Thing is it costs like £300 for one of them like DynoJet things. £300 I don't have at the moment. I've got an interview for an apprenticeship on Monday, so hopefully if I get that, the money should start rolling in. But until then... damage may be occuring. Unless it doesn't damage it like some of you say? I'm confused. The bikes due for a service in 1000 miles, so about a 5/6 weeks, I'll ask then what they think. Probably want to charge me £1,000,000 to fix it knowing them though haha!:L

Try a better quality air filter first mate, that should make the air fuel mix abit better

It made mine abit louder more bass to it, just dont expect massive performance gains if any, but don't worry about the popping and banging wont harm your engine at all
