No point in brushes I think, a sponge and microfibre cloths + rags & you're sorted!!! I would imagine that brushes do get in better places a bit though. Personally I take my chain off (takes 2 mins) and then drop it in a tub of petrol. Comes out brand spanking new! Then go for a ride and my Scottoiler oils it back up to perfection (yes I know I'm showing off).

I always thought about that, for the chain, do we not need to take the rear wheel off to get it off? or is the simple un-clip of the master link and take it off, clean then roll it back on and clip it back?! Quite tempted to do it, if it really is that simple. Although I did get an amazing blast on the chain otherday with that SDoc100 and a powerwasher.

You NEVER need to remove the wheel to take your chain off. Just undo the master link (if its clip type) and pull the chain off! Dunk it in some petrol (or diesel or paraffin) and give it a soak and a scrub. It will come out like brand new. Thread it back onto your bike and do the master link back up. JOB DONE!

As I say, PETROL works brilliantly.
You don't even have to soak it and scrub if you're in a rush.
You can put into a container, fill with petrol, pop lid on, shake like mad, and the chain will be nicely clean in 30 seconds!
You can also use WHITE SPIRIT, DIESEL, PARAFFIN etc.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use Fairy Liquid. - Trust me, I have even tested it. Washing-Up liquid contains a lot of salt! And will rust your chain up like a bitch.
Also watch out for any other household cleaners which may contain a lot of salt.

I've got plenty of white spirit. Is threading it back on easy? I was thinking it'd be a pain trying to thread it back onto front sprocket. But I'm very tempted, it means you could also attack the sprocket whilst the chain is off aswell. Hmmmm

And if you have the side panel off and are cleaning the front sprocket etc then its super easy! But yes you can undo the chain and thread it back on with out taking a single thing off your bike.
